The Basics of Weaving

Catherine has been weaving for over thirty years! Her passion for creating comes alive when she’s able to transfer a memory, an experience or a natural scene from her heart to her hands, sometimes accurately, sometimes abstractly. If you'd like to learn to weave on a floor loom, create loom shaped garments, weave tapestry or gain a better understanding of color, yarn and sett, Catherine is your go-to instructor. You can follow Catherine's journey and view her work on her website thewovenspirit.com.

Create a Grocery Bag Grocery Bag

Picture
Donna created these "grocery bag grocery bags" using a weft made by strips of plastic grocery bags. It's such a creative way to recycle and you'll make an incredibly durable and usable tote! These bags are not only great for groceries, they can be used for multiple purposes and made in many different sizes. Donna has opened her studio to members who wish to weave one of these bags. Her looms are set up and ready to go! If you'd like to schedule a time to work with Donna, you can contact her by.........

The pdf below contains Donna's instructions for cutting the bags.
Are you a fiber arts enthusiast living in Northern Michigan? If so, we'd love to have you join our talented and vibrant fiber arts guild. All areas of the fiber arts and skill levels are welcome. Come learn and share with us!
